Creation Relay Intensive (running 21st-25th)
Emanuel Cyr and Brandy Leary
$125 Admission by Application
Working from a curiosity of what would happen if we all shifted away from the patterns of creation that we know to see if moving out of habit will release other possibilities and potentials for how we create as a group, CCAFT is proud to introduce for our 2015 festival an exciting initiative that brings together one Toronto based artist and one Montreal based artist to lead a week long creation lab with 8 participants.
This process allows us to engage intensively, absurdly and abstractly to examine our current modes of working and evolve non conventional ways of creating together in a collaborative environment. The focus of this week will be on alternative processes for creation, critical discourse, deconstructing the act format, a questioning of minimalism, virtuosity and all the spaces in between, respectfully disagreeing with each other and an understanding that deeply questioning the way we work can result in great discoveries, absolute failures and open up new spaces in a form.
Co- Facilitated by Brandy Leary (Toronto) and Emanuel Cyr (Montreal) this process is structured in a relay format with each artist working for part of each day with the entire group, where the evolving discoveries are passed back and forth between facilitators to build and respond with the group as material is developed, explored and debated. The week will end with a public sharing and discussion of the process/work and a community potluck at Collective Space.
This program is subsidized by CCAFT and offers a week long intensive creation lab with a fee of $125 per selected participant. We encourage applications from artists of all disciplines within contemporary circus practices and across all levels of experience from emerging, mid career to senior practitioners.
